Alexander Zorniger has been named the new head coach of OB, the club announced Saturday. The 57-year-old German coach brings a wealth of experience to the Danish team, having managed several clubs across Europe.
Zorniger’s most recent position was with Greuther Fürth from 2022 to 2024. Prior to that, he managed Apollon Limassol from 2021 to 2022.
He achieved success at Apollon Limassol, leading them to win the Cypriot championship in 2022.
From 2016 to 2019, Zorniger coached Brøndby IF, where he is fondly remembered. During his tenure, Brøndby won the Danish cup tournament in 2018 and secured second place in the Superliga in the same year.
His other managerial roles include Stuttgart (2015), RB Leipzig (2012-2015), and SG Sonnenhof Großaspach (2010-2012). While at RB Leipzig, he guided the team to promotion from the 3rd Liga in Germany in 2014. He also served as an assistant coach at Stuttgart in 2009.
Zorniger was born on October 8, 1967, in Mutlangen, Germany.
