Danish Food Agency Recalls Dubai Chocolate Due to E. Coli Contamination

The Danish Food Agency is recalling Dubai chocolate produced by Habo after the detection of E. coli bacteria in the product. Consumers are strongly advised to either return the chocolate to the place of purchase or dispose of it immediately.

The affected product is sold in bazaars and specialty shops throughout Denmark. It has a net weight of 190 grams and a best before date of November 20, 2025.

If you have consumed the affected chocolate and are experiencing symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, or vomiting, it is important to contact your doctor immediately. These symptoms are indicative of a possible E. coli infection.

E. coli bacteria can be found in animals, food, and water and can cause serious illnesses in humans. While most coliform bacteria are harmless and naturally occur in human and animal intestines, certain strains of E. coli can lead to various infections.

Dubai chocolate has recently gained popularity due to viral videos on platforms like TikTok. The chocolate bar consists of milk chocolate, pistachio cream, and Turkish filo pastry kadayif. The high demand for this chocolate has significantly increased its price. Some sellers have been charging between 100 and 200 kroner for a single bar. The increased demand has also affected the global price of pistachio kernels, which rose from approximately DKK 110 to around DKK 150 per kilo between the spring of 2024 and the spring of 2025.

The Dubai chocolate was created by British-Egyptian Sara Hamouda, who owns Fix Dessert Chocolatier in Dubai.
