Former Source Handler Awarded Honorary Prize for Due Process

Jesper Kristensen, the former source handler for Ahmed Samsam, has received an honorary prize for his commitment to due process. The Thomas Gerstenberg Foundation for the Support of Due Process, which champions due process and democracy, presented the award.

The foundation’s chairman, law professor Frederik Waage, announced the award on LinkedIn, citing Kristensen’s critical role in preventing a potential miscarriage of justice. Waage emphasized that Kristensen chose to challenge the system despite significant personal costs.

Kristensen previously worked for the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET), where he served as Ahmed Samsam’s source handler. He has stated that he lost his job after 38 years of service due to his involvement in the Samsam case.

Kristensen commented on September 2, following the Samsam case ruling, stating that his experiences were minor compared to Samsam’s ordeal. The Supreme Court ruled that PET and the Defence Intelligence Service (FE) must acknowledge their cooperation with Ahmed Samsam during his trips to Syria in 2013 and 2014.
