Police in South Zealand and Lolland-Falster have recovered a massive amount of stolen tools and electronic equipment, arresting two suspects in connection with the case. The haul, which includes brands like Bosch, DeWalt, and Oral B, fills approximately 16 moving boxes.
The arrests were made on Friday afternoon in Sorring near Silkeborg, leading officers to the stolen goods in Hammel. As of Monday morning, authorities were still cataloging the recovered items.
The investigation points to the involvement of traveling criminals, with the suspects believed to be working with at least one accomplice. Police have stated the suspects are foreign nationals but have not released their nationalities.
The stolen goods appear to be brand new electronic equipment, targeted with such precision that many companies may not yet realize they are missing items. The police investigation initially focuses on thefts from DIY stores in Ringsted and Slagelse, but the list of affected businesses could expand.
The Foreign Nationals Control Section of the South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police (UKA East) is handling the investigation. This unit has a history of tracking down and exposing traveling criminals.
Two men were remanded in custody following a preliminary hearing on Saturday. The acting police commissioner, Christian Nøhr Nielsen, stated that the total value of the stolen goods has not yet been determined.
The UKA East previously prosecuted cases involving traveling criminals, including a July case where two men were convicted of multiple burglaries at construction sites and thefts from supermarkets, involving tools and plate compactors worth DKK 425,000. Another case involved the theft of 876 side mirrors, valued at over two million kroner.
