Former Ahmed Samsam Handler Jesper Kristensen Receives Honorary Prize for Due Process

Jesper Kristensen, the former handler of Ahmed Samsam, has been awarded an honorary prize for his commitment to due process. The Thomas Gerstenberg Foundation for the Support of Due Process, dedicated to promoting due process and democracy, presented the award.

The award recognizes Kristensen’s pivotal role in preventing a potential miscarriage of justice. Frederik Waage, chairman of the foundation and law professor, announced the award on LinkedIn.

Kristensen, formerly with the Police Intelligence Service (PET), served as Samsam’s handler. Waage stated that Kristensen chose to oppose the system despite significant personal costs associated with following his conscience.

Kristensen previously stated that he lost his job after 38 years of service because of the Samsam case. In a TV 2 interview on September 2, following the Samsam case ruling, Kristensen remarked that his experiences were insignificant compared to what Samsam endured. The Supreme Court ruled that PET and the Defence Intelligence Service (FE) must acknowledge their collaboration with Ahmed Samsam during his trips to Syria in 2013 and 2014.
