The head of the Nature Agency Kronjylland, forester Peter Brostrøm, and a former operations manager were found guilty in the Randers Court on Wednesday of neglecting cattle in Mols Bjerge and sentenced to three months of suspended imprisonment.
The charges stem from the period between November 2020 and February 2021, involving 76 cattle grazing on the Nature Agency Kronjylland’s land in Mols Bjerge.
The indictment stated that several animals were severely emaciated, displaying visible ribs and sharp hip corners, and some cows aborted dead calves due to malnutrition.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge of neglect.
Peter Brostrøm’s defense attorney announced an immediate appeal for acquittal.
The attorney for the former operations manager, who has since retired, acknowledged the verdict.
Peter Brostrøm has been suspended since the charges were initially filed.
