A record 11,563 bookings were made for overnight stays in Danish nature during weeks 26-32 of the summer holidays, according to the Danish Nature Agency. This is the first time bookings have exceeded 10,000 during this period.

The surge in bookings resulted in 51,633 visitors to state-owned natural areas, nearly 5,000 more than the previous record set in 2024. The bookings include stays at shelters, campsites, and tent sites.

Lærke Falstaff, a project worker at the Danish Nature Agency, expressed her delight that Danes are increasingly engaging with nature socially. Falstaff believes people are realizing the peace and unique experiences nature offers regardless of the season or time of day.

“Nature has fantastic opportunities to create a framework for peace and contemplation, but also social interaction,” Falstaff stated.
