Police Intervene Over Social Democrats’ “Honk for Blue Prime Minister Candidate” Banner

Police intervened at a bourgeois convention in Fredericia after the Social Democrats displayed a truck with a banner encouraging motorists to honk if they saw a blue prime minister candidate. Authorities deemed the banner illegal, citing restrictions against encouraging unnecessary honking.

The Southeast Jutland Police contacted the truck driver and the company responsible for the banner, instructing them to remove it. Rune Nielsen, duty officer at the Southeast Jutland Police, confirmed that encouraging honking is prohibited unless there is a genuine traffic hazard.

The incident occurred at the entrance to Messe C in Fredericia, the location of a convention for Liberal Alliance, Danmarksdemokraterne, Dansk Folkeparti, and De Konservative. The banner’s message alluded to the absence of a declared blue prime minister candidate. Currently, only Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) has announced her candidacy for the next general election.

The Social Democrats acknowledged the incident in a written statement, claiming the truck was moved to a garage after being parked at the main entrance. They added, “There is still no blue prime minister candidate, so no need to honk. People around the blue convention can continue to move safely in traffic.”
