Fortuna Hjørring defeated FC Midtjylland 1-0 in Saturday’s A-League match, held at MCH Arena.

The decisive goal came in the 81st minute when 40-year-old Florentina Olar scored, securing the win for Fortuna. Following a corner, Olar managed to get her foot on the ball, sending it into the goal despite Sanne Troelsgaard’s attempt to clear it.

This victory marks a positive start for Fortuna as they prepare for their upcoming Champions League playoff match against Austrian side St. Pölten on Thursday. It also served as revenge for Fortuna, who were defeated 2-0 by FCM earlier in the week in Vildbjerg, ending their hopes of winning the cup title.

Fortuna had opportunities to increase their lead, but Joy Omewa, the league’s top scorer from last season, had an unproductive day. The FCM defence and goalkeeper Katrine Thisgaard also put up a strong fight. In the final stages of the game, FCM pushed back, even hitting the crossbar as they sought to earn their first point in the league.

Currently, FCM sits at the bottom of the A-League standings with zero points after four games. Fortuna is provisionally in second place with eight points and a 5-0 goal difference after the same number of games.
