FC Copenhagen’s head coach, Jacob Neestrup, is reportedly attracting interest from German club Wolfsburg following his team’s recent victory in the cup final against Silkeborg, securing “The Double” for the second time in three years.

Sporting director Sune Smith-Nielsen acknowledges that Neestrup’s talent makes him a target for other European clubs, emphasizing the shared desire for continuity within the team, especially after significant changes last summer.

Neestrup himself remains focused on his role at FC Copenhagen, stating his commitment to the team and its continued development. He dismissed the rumors, recalling similar speculation linking him to Ajax a year and a half ago.

Smith-Nielsen highlighted the extension of Neestrup’s contract until 2029, signaling the club’s confidence in him and suggesting a substantial buyout fee would be required to acquire his services.

Neestrup also addressed the challenges FC Copenhagen faces in retaining its key players, citing the example of Orri Oskarsson’s sale due to high offers. He expressed a desire for the club to improve in keeping its best talents but recognized the financial pressures exerted by the market.

Regarding his immediate plans, Neestrup intends to spend the summer vacation relaxing with his family, potentially at their newly acquired summer house or perhaps taking a trip to a sunnier destination.
