An 82-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a 79-year-old woman in Nivå, North Zealand, according to North Zealand Police. He was arrested on Tuesday, and a judge in Helsingør has ordered his arrest to be upheld for three days following a closed court hearing on Wednesday afternoon.
The woman was found dead late Monday in a wooded area near Møllevej, after being reported missing.
Police believe the crime was committed between Saturday at 5:30 PM and Monday at 4:50 PM.
The man pleads not guilty.
Over the weekend, a large search was conducted for the 79-year-old woman, involving a helicopter.
The police have been granted three days by the judge to gather additional evidence in the case. They are seeking assistance from the public, requesting drivers with cameras, surveillance systems, or dashcams to provide video recordings from Nivå or the area south of Nivå between Saturday at 5 PM and Monday at 5 PM.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the relationship between the arrested man and the woman remains undisclosed.
