A fire at a riding school near Fortunen in Lyngby prompted a swift response from firefighters who rescued two horses from a smoke-filled stable. The incident occurred on Tuesday, and investigations into the cause of the fire are scheduled to begin on Wednesday.
Upon arrival, emergency services found a chaotic scene where riding school users and others had already managed to rescue most of the horses. However, two horses remained trapped inside their stalls, necessitating immediate action.
Firefighters deployed two teams of smoke divers to extract the remaining horses, leading them to safety in a nearby paddock. Fortunately, neither people nor animals sustained any injuries during the fire, according to Nordsjællands Politi.
The emergency services noted the unusual nature of animal rescue operations. Responding to the severity of the situation, reinforcements were called in, resulting in a significant presence of three incident commanders, five team leaders, 25 firefighters, and 12 fire vehicles.
The fire originated at Fortunens Ponycenter. Emergency services expressed gratitude to the individuals from the pony center and Hotel Fortunen for their assistance during the incident.
