A new, continuous hiking trail along the Gudenå River, Denmark’s longest river, is projected to open in the spring of 2026, allowing hikers to traverse from Tinnet Krat near Give to Randers Fjord. The path aims to connect existing trails, enhance their condition, and implement consistent signage.
The collaborative project involves the Danish Nature Agency and eight municipalities: Vejle, Hedensted, Horsens, Skanderborg, Silkeborg, Viborg, Favrskov, and Randers. The Nordea Foundation and the A.P. Møller Foundation are also supporting the endeavor.
Gunhild Øeby Nielsen, network coordinator at the Gudenå Collaboration, highlighted the significant interest in the hiking route, anticipating it will serve as a positive branding opportunity due to the Gudenå’s recognition.
Dorrit Christensen, national chairman of the Danish Hiking Association, expressed her satisfaction with the route, noting its popularity among Danish hikers. The Gudenå River originates in Tinnet Krat and flows into Randers Fjord.
