Fire at Gåsetårnsskolen’s Iselinge Department in Vordingborg

A fire broke out at the Iselinge department of Gåsetårnsskolen in Vordingborg early Thursday morning, prompting a response from the South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police and the fire department. The incident occurred at the school located on Christian Richardtsvej.

Police received a report at 2:30 AM indicating that both burglary and fire alarms were triggered at the school. Upon arrival, the fire department observed flames and smoke emanating from a room.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

While the full extent of the damage remains undetermined, authorities suggest that the fire department’s swift action prevented significant harm to the building. “The fire department was quick to put it out, so there is no major damage to the building,” stated duty officer Jannick Hallø.

Police patrols, including a dog patrol, were present at the scene throughout the night to conduct investigations. Their on-site work concluded early Thursday morning.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and it is too early to determine whether arson was involved. “We will now investigate further what happened and how the fire started,” Hallø confirmed.
