Man Remanded in Custody for Designer Lamp Theft

A 58-year-old man has been remanded in custody in connection with the theft of designer lamps in Varde, Denmark. He appeared in court on Thursday.

The man is accused of committing two burglaries at a residence on Slotsgade in Varde. The South and Southern Jutland Police released a statement regarding the arrest.

Police Commissioner Kent Brynilsen thanked the public for their assistance in the case. He stated that citizen vigilance and information provided to the police were instrumental in locating the suspect.

Authorities noted an increase in burglaries targeting designer lamps in Varde over the past month. The police received reports on Monday and Tuesday of lamps stolen from the same address on two separate occasions.

The suspect, identified as a 58-year-old local man, was apprehended by police on Wednesday. He was presented at a preliminary hearing at the Esbjerg Court on Thursday. Despite his plea of not guilty, the judge granted the prosecution’s request to keep him in custody.

The man will remain in custody for the next four weeks while the police continue their investigation. A subsequent decision will then be made regarding his continued detention or release.
