Copenhagen experienced a peaceful Wednesday evening following two major events at Fælledparken, according to police reports. FC Copenhagen’s 2-0 victory over Swiss FC Basel in a Champions League qualifying match, attended by almost 35,000 spectators, and the DHL relay race, which drew thousands of joggers, both occurred without incident.
Police Inspector Tommy Laursen of the Copenhagen Police Department highlighted the successful separation of the two large gatherings. The inspector also noted the exemplary behavior of both the Swiss FC Basel fans and the FC Copenhagen supporters, with the latter’s good spirits possibly influenced by their team’s victory.
The win secured FC Copenhagen’s place in the Champions League group stage.
Authorities reported no signs of disturbance, arrests, or injuries in the area surrounding Fælledparken. Furthermore, there was no reported use of pyrotechnics.
As of 1:00 AM on Thursday, football fans congregated in pubs near Vesterbrogade. Police presence was maintained in the area, where a positive atmosphere prevailed with well-behaved individuals.
