Copenhagen is bracing for potential congestion as a sold-out Champions League playoff match between F.C. Copenhagen (FCK) and F.C. Basel coincides with the DHL relay race in Fælledparken tonight. Thousands of people are expected to gather in the Østerbro area, potentially impacting traffic and public transportation.
Police are working with organizers to mitigate potential chaos, acknowledging that the proximity of the two large events will likely cause congestion. Authorities have developed a plan to keep the events separate and manage traffic flow.
FCK has issued an appeal to its fans, advising them to avoid the southern part of Fælledparken due to the DHL relay. The club recommends arriving early and being considerate of the runners. Fans heading to the A-stand, Section 12, and the C-stand are advised to use Øster Alle to access Parken before and after the match.
The DHL relay races began at 6 PM, with Parken’s doors opening at 7 PM. The Champions League playoff match is scheduled to kick off at 9 PM.
