Brøndby IF has been handed a fine and a conditional ban on selling tickets to its fans for a future European away match due to their supporters’ behavior during a recent game. UEFA announced the penalties on Wednesday following an incident in which Brøndby fans set off flares during the European match against Strasbourg last week.
The Danish club has been fined 20,000 euros, equivalent to approximately 149,000 Danish kroner.
The conditional spectator ban means that Brøndby will not be allowed to sell tickets to its supporters for their next away game in a European club tournament if a similar incident occurs within the next two years. The two-year conditional penalty is effective starting today.
Brøndby is scheduled to play Strasbourg in the return match of the Conference League playoff round on Thursday evening at home. The first leg in France ended in a 0-0 draw last Thursday.
