Danish Prime Minister Addresses Alleged US Influence Operations in Greenland

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has expressed serious concern over reports that at least three Americans are conducting influence operations in Greenland. According to DR, these individuals have connections to former US President Donald Trump.

Frederiksen stated that any interference in the internal affairs of Denmark and Greenlandic democracy is unacceptable. She noted the lack of a clear denial from the US regarding the allegations.

Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen summoned the American chargé d’affaires in Denmark to address the issue. Rasmussen emphasized that any official US involvement in influence campaigns would violate international rules.

The US currently has no ambassador to Denmark; Mark Stroh serves as the American chargé d’affaires. DR’s report cites anonymous sources claiming the individuals are attempting to infiltrate Greenland, which Trump had previously expressed interest in acquiring. It remains unclear whether these individuals are acting independently.
