Man Sentenced to Two Years in Prison for Stalking

A 45-year-old man has been sentenced to two years in prison by the Næstved Court for stalking a woman. This is one of the longest sentences ever given for stalking in the area.

The man violated a restraining order against the woman up to 1,000 times in just two weeks in January 2025. Prior to this, he had contacted the woman by telephone more than 37,000 times, including 30,281 calls to her private phone.

The prosecutor, Sofie Amalie Johannessen, told TV2 Øst that the two-year prison sentence is “right at the high end” of the scale for such crimes. The maximum penalty for stalking is three years in prison.

The 45-year-old and the woman met through his workplace. The man claimed that they had a mutual intimate relationship, but the woman denied this. She described their relationship as a friendship that took an unpleasant turn.

The man has been in custody since January and will remain so. He is currently considering whether to appeal the sentence.
