Crown Prince Christian has concluded his four-month military service at the Guard Hussar Regiment in Slagelse. The Royal House made the announcement via Instagram on Wednesday, extending congratulations to all conscripts.
The royal couple expressed their pride in all those completing military service, emphasizing the respect it fosters. They recalled meeting conscripts and their families at the family day in March at Antvorskov Barracks and offered their congratulations on the Royal House’s Instagram profile.
Prince Christian’s military journey is set to continue. In August, he is scheduled to begin his education to become a lieutenant, a year-long program followed by practical service as a platoon leader.
As a lieutenant within the Armed Forces, one can work as a leader, instructor, subject teacher, shooting leader and teacher for the soldiers.
The Crown Prince is following a path well-trodden by his family. King Frederik completed his military service in the Royal Life Guards in 1986 and was appointed lieutenant of the reserve two years later, becoming a platoon leader at the Guard Hussar Regiment.
King Frederik also trained as a frogman at the Frogman Corps. Prince Christian’s great-grandfather, Frederik IX, attended the Naval Academy and became a rear admiral. His uncle, Prince Joachim, completed military leadership training and is a defense attaché at the Danish Embassy in Washington.
