A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a hand grenade explosion that occurred a month ago in front of a nail salon in Copenhagen’s Northwest district. The arrest took place on Tuesday shortly after 1 p.m., according to Copenhagen Police.
The suspect is accused of providing the hand grenade to a 31-year-old man before the explosion, which happened on the night of April 21 at approximately 03:10. The 31-year-old man, an Iraqi national, is charged with detonating the grenade and has been in custody since late April.
On Wednesday, the 19-year-old Danish man was also ordered to be held in custody for an initial period of 27 days. The decision was made during a hearing at the Court of Frederiksberg on Wednesday morning.
Due to the prosecutor’s request for a closed hearing, police have declined to release further details about the case, including the evidence against the 19-year-old.
No one was injured in the explosion, although several people were in the vicinity. The 31-year-old man faces charges of endangering the lives or health of others.
Both defendants have pleaded not guilty. The police have not disclosed the motive for placing the hand grenade at the nail salon.
