Aalborg Municipality has announced its ambition to become the European Capital of Culture in 2032. This was revealed in a recent press release issued by the municipality.

The citizens of Aalborg Municipality will directly experience the benefits if the city is selected, according to Mayor Lasse Frimand Jensen (S). He emphasized that the impact would be significant and long-lasting, creating memories for generations.

In preparation for 2032, the municipality plans to enrich the local cultural scene. The investment is expected to enhance cultural life not only in 2032 but also in the years leading up to and following the event.

Throughout the municipality, citizens can anticipate a range of cultural activities and events. The initiative aims to strengthen and enrich both the cultural landscape and the community as a whole.

Denmark previously hosted the European Capital of Culture in 2017, with Aarhus as the host city.
