Mathias Kvistgaarden Selected for Danish National Team

Mathias Kvistgaarden, the 23-year-old Brøndby attacker, has been called up to the Danish national team for the first time. This selection follows a strong season where he scored 17 goals in 29 Superliga matches and comes as he is potentially moving to play abroad.

Kvistgaarden could make his debut in the friendly matches against Northern Ireland and Lithuania in June. National coach Brian Riemer stated that Kvistgaarden’s recent good form leading up to the selection was a key factor in his decision.

Kvistgaarden expressed his pride and excitement about the opportunity to represent the Danish national team. He will compete for playing time in the attack alongside players such as Kasper Dolberg, Mika Biereth, and Rasmus Højlund. Riemer has observed that Kvistgaarden is a difficult opponent, resourceful, and determined, with a strong work ethic both on and off the ball.

Several other young Superliga players, including Lucas Høgsberg from FC Nordsjælland and Victor Froholdt from FC Copenhagen, have also been selected. Veteran players such as Kasper Schmeichel, Christian Eriksen, and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg are also included in the squad for the matches on June 7 and June 10.

The full squad list is as follows:
