Mathias Kvistgaarden Selected for Danish National Team

Mathias Kvistgaarden, the 23-year-old Brøndby striker, has been called up to the Danish national team for the first time. The selection comes after a strong season where he scored 17 goals in 29 Superliga appearances.

Kvistgaarden expressed immense pride and surprise at his selection, stating it was a significant achievement he hadn’t anticipated so early in his career. He could make his debut in the friendly matches against Northern Ireland and Lithuania in June.

The squad also includes other young Superliga players like Lucas Høgsberg from FC Nordsjælland and Victor Froholdt from FC Copenhagen, both of whom were part of the previous national team gathering. Froholdt debuted against Portugal in the Nations League, while Høgsberg and Ajax player Anton Gaaei are still awaiting their first appearances.

Experienced players such as Kasper Schmeichel, Christian Eriksen, and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg have been retained in the squad. The complete squad list includes three goalkeepers, seven defenders, seven midfielders, and five forwards. The matches are scheduled for June 7 and June 10.
