Two companies associated with Viegård Stud Farm have been fined a total of DKK 600,000 for violating animal welfare laws. The Central and West Jutland Police announced the fines in a press release.
The case originated after an unannounced inspection in 2023 revealed the buried remains of approximately 50 horses on the stud farm’s property.
Authorities determined that Viegård Stud Farm lacked the necessary permits to bury horses on the premises.
Following the initial discovery, police conducted multiple unannounced supervisory visits to the stud farm. The implicated companies have agreed to pay the fines, thereby avoiding a court trial.
