Martin Thomsen, 42, has been appointed as the new assistant coach for Viborg in the Superliga, transitioning from his previous role as head coach for Hobro in the 1st Division. Thomsen’s arrival aims to bolster Viborg’s coaching staff, bringing valuable experience and a proven track record of success.

Hobro’s sporting director, Lars Justesen, acknowledged Thomsen’s significant contributions to the club’s development over the past four seasons. While expressing sadness at Thomsen’s departure, Justesen affirmed the club’s support for his decision to pursue a new opportunity.
Thomsen, who also played for Viborg FF from 2001 to 2003, expressed his enthusiasm for returning to the club. He aims to support head coach Nickolai Lund and contribute his expertise to achieve success in the Superliga. Thomsen also looks forward to learning and growing within Viborg’s environment.
Hobro is currently last in the 1st Division with one point after the first two games, and the replacement for Thomsen as head coach has not yet been announced. Viborg has also experienced a challenging start to the season, losing their first two games.
