Two boys, ages 15 and 16, were found guilty of aggravated assault against three gay men in Odense after luring them with a fake dating app profile. The verdict was delivered Tuesday at the Court in Odense.
The attacks resulted in significant injuries, including one middle-aged man suffering cerebral hemorrhages and vision impairment.
The teenagers were sentenced to seven and eight months imprisonment, respectively. In both cases, one month is unconditional, and the remainder is suspended with a two-year probationary period.
According to special prosecutor Christian Nielsen, two other individuals were acquitted of involvement in one of the assaults.
The convicted boys claimed they intended to confront pedophiles, but the prosecutor stated that there was no evidence to support this claim. The victims testified that they believed they were meeting an adult, based on the dating app profile.
Nielsen acknowledged the court’s guilty verdict and the sentences imposed. Both the convicted and the prosecution have two weeks to decide whether to appeal the case to the High Court.
