A 34-year-old man has been apprehended in Silkeborg by Central and West Jutland Police, facing charges of attempted explosives manufacture, following the discovery of chemicals in his apartment.

The arrest, which took place in a wooded area south of Silkeborg, followed a police operation initiated around 12:30 PM on Tuesday. The operation led to the discovery of chemical substances and items in a central Silkeborg apartment, which police suspect were intended for manufacturing explosives.

Authorities cordoned off the area as a precautionary measure, initiating a thorough investigation, according to Police Commissioner Stephan Weber.

The specific chemicals found in the apartment remain undisclosed by the Central and West Jutland Police. It is also currently unknown whether the arrested man will be brought before a judge.

The police operation prompted the closure of a section of Jernbanevej, which runs alongside Silkeborg Station. Bomb disposal experts from the Defense Forces assisted the police in the operation, which was initially reported as an investigation into a suspicious situation on Jernbanevej.

The Central and West Jutland Police have stated that the cordoned-off area will remain in effect for an unspecified duration. Earlier reports from the police indicated that citizens could safely move outside the cordoned areas.
