Alberte Greve Wins Two Gold Medals at Danish National Road Race Championships

Alberte Greve, 19, secured two gold medals at the Danish Championships (DM) in road racing, claiming both the elite and U23 titles. The victory marks her first professional win and a significant breakthrough in her cycling career.

Experienced cyclist Amalie Dideriksen, a five-time Danish champion, finished with the silver medal. Solbjørk Minke Andersson battled through pain to secure the bronze medal, despite suffering a crash early in the race.

Andersson revealed she rode most of the race with a bruised rib. “It was a long day on the bike. I was really in pain, and we had to assess whether I could finish and ride to the finish line,” she stated, adding that “It was pure will. Of course you want to complete the DM. It just means a lot. Now I need to see a doctor.”

Greve acknowledged potential friction with fellow breakaway riders Johanne Resen and Christina Bragh Lorenzen, who were also part of the leading group. “I think we need to hug it out so we are friends again,” Greve said. “But I don’t think they were very happy with me out there. It’s race atmosphere, and everyone wants to win. Everyone thinks each other is a bit stupid if things don’t go their way. But that’s cycling, and I expect we’ll be good friends again.” She further explained, “I had to use them up a bit, because they are strong riders, and it’s not like I just ride away from them all the time. I had to be a little smart.”

Greve, a former roller skater, expressed her excitement about her accomplishment: “It’s absolutely insane that for the rest of my life I’m going to have the dannebrog (Danish flag) on my sleeves and this year on my whole chest. You’re not sure it’s ever going to happen. So I’m just so happy and proud.”
