Danish golf stars Rasmus and Nicolai Højgaard recently dedicated a day to inspire young golfers at the Great Northern golf course in Kerteminde, Denmark. The event, organized by Golfpromote and Flemming Astrup, aimed to boost youth participation in golf by offering an unforgettable experience.
The Højgaard twins, fresh from the PGA Tour’s Rocket Classic in Detroit, spent Tuesday morning with 108 junior golfers, providing them with a unique opportunity to learn from and interact with two of Denmark’s most successful golfers. The young participants had won a lottery after a qualifying tournament to earn their spot at the event.
The format of the day involved the juniors taking turns as caddies for the Højgaard brothers and competing against them over 18 holes. This allowed for close interaction and learning opportunities, as the twins shared their expertise and answered questions.
Both Rasmus and Nicolai Højgaard emphasized the importance of giving back to junior golf, remembering their own experiences as young players and role models. They expressed their desire to inspire the next generation of Danish golfers and contribute to the growth of the sport in their home country.
Flemming Astrup, the organizer of the event, highlighted the need to attract and retain young players in golf, given the numerous other activities competing for their attention. He believes that providing unique experiences like this one can help keep young people engaged and passionate about golf.
The Højgaard brothers’ commitment to junior golf was evident, as they flew back from the United States specifically for this event. Their willingness to share their time and knowledge with the young golfers demonstrated their dedication to the future of Danish golf.
