Housing Prices, SSI Homophobia Study, EU Budget, and a Slogan for Europe

The European Union is facing criticism for its proposed budget, which is set to be the largest ever, despite austerity measures in member states. Søren Højbjerg from Farum argues that boasting about spending more money is shameful, indicating a disconnect from reality within the EU. He suggests the EU should show moderation instead of “holding budget parties”.

In a separate matter, concerns have been raised regarding a study on homophobia conducted by the Statens Serum Institut (SSI). Mette Buch from Copenhagen questions the relevance of such a study to the SSI’s stated mission, which focuses on preventing and combating infectious and congenital diseases. She expresses concern that the study might imply homophobia is a “congenital disease,” leading the SSI to “monitor” and “treat” individuals with differing values.

Meanwhile, Bjarne Nissen from Ærø challenges the perceived necessity of living in Copenhagen, where housing prices are soaring. Nissen, who moved from the capital region 12 years ago, highlights the advantages of living in the countryside, such as affordable housing, ample parking, fresh air, and low crime rates. He also points out job opportunities in rural areas, citing the difficulty in filling positions on Ærø.

Finally, Niels Holmer Johansen from Hillerød suggests adopting a simple slogan, “MEGA – Make Europe Great Again,” for Mette Frederiksen to promote within the EU. He believes this slogan is easy to understand and already popular among young people.
