A 70-year-old man, shot by police near Sorø city hall two weeks prior, is scheduled to appear in court after recovering from his injuries. The preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Court in Næstved, according to South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police.
The man faces serious charges, including arson and threats against law enforcement. Previously, on May 15, he was presented in absentia due to his hospitalization for treatment of gunshot wounds.
The indictment against him alleges a series of dangerous actions. He is accused of setting fire to 12 gas cylinders at the entrance of a dental clinic in Sorø. Furthermore, he allegedly threw two Molotov cocktails at the entrance to the city hall.
The situation escalated when he reportedly pursued two officers on his moped. According to the indictment, he then threatened them with a pistol-like object, which led to him being shot in the leg by police. This is the same indictment that will be presented to him at Wednesday’s hearing.
