A 62-year-old man has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison for the rape of a female asylum seeker at an asylum center in Jelling. The Kolding court delivered the verdict on Friday, according to the Southeast Jutland Police.

Bijan Tubai Babazad, who worked as a temporary healthcare assistant at the center, was convicted of the rape that occurred in the fall of 2023. He has appealed the verdict, seeking acquittal.

During the trial, Babazad pleaded not guilty. He claimed that involuntary ejaculation, caused by medication, was the reason for the incident. He stated that he had ejaculated in a sink on the day in question and suggested the woman may have seen his semen and placed it in herself.

The court rejected his explanation. Following the verdict, the court ordered that the 62-year-old man be held in custody.

He has appealed this custody ruling to the High Court.
