A 57-year-old man has been remanded in custody and will be held in a psychiatric ward until June 18, following charges of attempted murder against his 54-year-old female partner. The East Jutland Police announced the decision on X.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning in Stenvad on Djursland, where the man allegedly stabbed the woman in the stomach with a kitchen knife. Police estimate the stabbing took place around 11:11 AM.
The woman was immediately transported to a hospital for treatment. Reports indicate that her condition was not life-threatening as of Wednesday.
During the preliminary hearing at the Court in Randers, the man pleaded not guilty. His defense attorney informed the court that she had not yet received his account of the incident. The 57-year-old remained silent with his eyes closed throughout the hearing.
The judge has issued a name ban to protect the accused and ordered the preliminary hearing to be held behind closed doors. The East Jutland Police stated that the man has not appealed the ruling and declined to provide an explanation in court.
