A 51-year-old man from Maribo has been sentenced to three years in prison for his involvement in an opioid and doping network operating in Lolland and South Zealand. The sentence was handed down on Tuesday in the Court in Nykøbing Falster.
Johnny Aron Mikkelsen confessed to acting as a warehouse worker for the network from June 2023 to October 2024. His role included importing, receiving, possessing, storing, and transferring a substantial quantity of illegal doping substances and pills.
The confiscated materials included approximately 1.4 million units of doping agents, 400,000 medicine tablets, and 780,000 tablets covered by narcotics legislation, including a small quantity of opioids. The National Unit for Special Crime (NSK) issued a press release detailing the case.
According to prosecutor Malou Engel of NSK, Mikkelsen’s work was essential for the organization’s operation of the warehouses, which contained considerable amounts of narcotics, doping agents, and medicines. Engel expressed satisfaction that the court’s sentencing reflected the severity of the crime.
Mikkelsen committed these crimes in association with four other individuals. In April, Nick Hielscher Abel, 35, was sentenced to six years in prison for acting as the operations manager of the network.
