42-Year-Old Man Sentenced for Abuse, Rape, and Threats Against Former Wife

A 42-year-old man has been sentenced to four years in prison and expulsion from Denmark with a 12-year entry ban after being convicted of abuse, rape, psychological violence, and threats against his former wife. The ruling was delivered by the Court in Lyngby.

The case, which spanned from early 2018 to August 9, 2022, involved multiple instances of violence and intimidation. The man was found guilty of hitting the woman in the face, head, and back while she was pregnant. He was also convicted of threatening to kill her and take their children, sometimes making these threats in front of the children themselves.

Special prosecutor Bente Schnack expressed satisfaction with the verdict, noting that the court found the man guilty on almost all counts. She highlighted that the court deemed the victim’s testimony credible and recognized the severity of the crimes.

In addition to physical and sexual abuse, the man was convicted of psychological violence. This included verbally abusing the woman, demanding her unconditional obedience, and controlling her finances, often in the presence of their children.

The convicted man has appealed the verdict.
