3F Aalborg Considers Ending Sponsorship of AaB Due to Bullying Allegations

The trade union 3F Aalborg is contemplating ending its sponsorship of the relegated Superliga club AaB due to a potential internal bullying case. The union announced this decision Tuesday evening on Facebook and has called for an emergency meeting to discuss the situation.

The contract between 3F Aalborg and AaB is set to expire in June 2027. The union emphasized that bullying and a poor psychological environment clash with its core values.

The possible bullying case involves former head coach Menno van Dam and an unnamed individual associated with the first team. The individual claimed that van Dam made comments about his appearance during a bowling trip.

3F Aalborg already met with AaB management on Monday and stated that it does not want to continue as a sponsor under the current ownership of German investor group SSE22, which acquired a stake in the club in March 2023.

According to reports, van Dam, who was fired in April during AaB’s fight for survival in the Superliga, declined to comment on the allegation, calling it an “internal” matter. Kristoffer Wichmann, who replaced Van Dam, also failed to prevent relegation and was subsequently fired, despite signing a two-year contract in April.
