A 31-year-old Pakistani doctor has been charged with three counts of attempted rape following incidents near Glostrup Station in April. The man is accused of accosting three different women on three separate Sundays, grabbing them from behind.
In two instances, the man allegedly groped the women’s breasts. In the third incident, he is accused of attempting to put his hand down the woman’s pants. All three women were able to stop the man’s actions.
The incidents occurred on the nights or early mornings of April 6, 13, and 20. Police received the initial report on April 13 after a woman who had been attacked contacted her husband, who then alerted authorities. The woman informed the police that a colleague had experienced a similar assault near the station the previous week, bringing the first incident to light. Another woman was attacked in the same area a week later.
Following the reports, officers were present at the station on the night of the subsequent Sunday. They identified a possible suspect when the 31-year-old man disembarked from a train. He matched the descriptions provided by the victims, leading to his arrest.
The man was brought before a preliminary hearing in the Court of Glostrup that same Sunday. While he admitted to meeting the three women near the station at night, he denied any intention of rape. He claimed his intention was to initiate contact, obtain their phone numbers, and establish friendships.
However, the indictment presents a different account. In one instance, the man allegedly told the woman in English that he wanted to have sex with her and warned her not to make noise.
The 31-year-old is a trained doctor from Pakistan and had been in Denmark for approximately a month and a half at the time of his arrest. During the preliminary hearing, it was revealed that his objective was to learn Danish and practice medicine in Denmark.
The prosecution is seeking the man’s expulsion from Denmark with a permanent entry ban if he is convicted. The case is scheduled to be heard over four days in the Court of Glostrup in January of the following year.
