A 16-year-old girl has been remanded in custody for four weeks following a preliminary hearing on Monday in Holstebro in connection to the arson at Thisted Town Hall. The girl is accused of setting fire to the town hall on Sunday night.
The preliminary hearing was held behind closed doors, and the girl did not comment on the charges. The prosecution at Midt- and Vestjyllands Politi confirmed the detention via X. She has not appealed the detention order.
Authorities suspect the girl of initiating the fire by igniting a container. She allegedly broke into the town hall by throwing cobblestones through windows and then used flammable liquids to set the building ablaze.
The girl was arrested on Sunday afternoon, leading police to believe they had solved the case. Following the arson, the town hall has suffered soot and smoke damage in several areas and will remain closed this week.
Thisted Municipality announced on Facebook that citizens with appointments at Citizen Service this week will have them canceled via SMS. The municipality can be contacted in special cases concerning passports, MitID, and driving licenses.
