A fatal three-car collision on Peterhof Highway in St. Petersburg has caused significant traffic disruptions for over three hours. The accident, which occurred in the Krasnoselsky district near house number 51, involved a Renault, a Hyundai, and a Volkswagen.
The driver of the Renault died at the scene, while the driver of the Hyundai sustained injuries and was hospitalized.
According to preliminary information from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, the 50-year-old driver of the Renault drove into oncoming traffic, colliding first with a Hyundai and then with a Volkswagen.
The 37-year-old driver of the Hyundai was hospitalized in moderate condition.
Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. The collision occurred shortly after 7 a.m. and resulted in one vehicle ending up in a ditch.
