Three people have died after a floating crane capsized in Yuzhnaya Bay in Sevastopol. The incident occurred on October 27, when the unfinished vessel overturned and sank.
Law enforcement agencies confirmed the increased death toll on October 31. Initially, only two fatalities were reported.
Over twenty people were injured in the accident.
The Investigative Committee for Transport has launched a criminal case to investigate the violation of safety regulations during the traffic and operation of maritime transport, leading to the accidental deaths. Authorities stated that at the time of the incident, the vessel had not been put into operation and tests of the loading device were being conducted.
JSC “Admiralty Shipyards” stated that the crane incident will not impact their work schedule and that all ship construction contracts will be fulfilled on time.
