Teenage Scooter Riders Hospitalized After Accident in St. Petersburg

Two teenagers were hospitalized, one in serious condition, after being hit by a car while riding a rented scooter in St. Petersburg’s Krasnoselsky district. The incident occurred on Avangardnaya Street around 8 a.m.

A 62-year-old driver in an Opel Mokka struck the two girls, ages 13 and 17, as they crossed an uncontrolled pedestrian crosswalk on a single scooter.

The 13-year-old driver sustained bruises and is in moderate condition. Her 17-year-old passenger suffered a rib fracture, closed head injury, and brain contusion, and her condition is considered serious by medical professionals.

Police are investigating the accident.
