St. Petersburg’s industrial sector is setting a high standard for other regions in Russia, according to Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov. He made the statement on October 31st at the “Russian Industrialist” forum.
Alikhanov specifically highlighted St. Petersburg’s ambitious goal of establishing 30 industrial technology parks by 2030. This initiative represents a significant portion of the national target of creating 100 such parks, a goal which Russia is on track to surpass.
The minister emphasized the critical need for the industrial sector to outpace overall economic growth, aiming for a growth rate at least twice as fast as other sectors. This ambitious target presents a considerable challenge.
Alikhanov further stressed the importance of inter-regional collaboration, advocating for leading regions to mentor those lagging behind. He identified Tatarstan, Nizhny Novgorod, and St. Petersburg as leaders in the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s ranking and encouraged them to share their successful strategies.
St. Petersburg’s robust Industrial Development Fund, one of the largest in the country, was cited as a model for other regions. Alikhanov concluded by affirming that the city’s implemented practices should be studied and replicated.
