Search Continues for Body of Deceased Train Surfer in Moscow Region

Volunteers are continuing their search for the body of a 14-year-old train surfer who died in the Moscow region. The teenager had been missing for two weeks before parts of his remains were discovered on the railway tracks.

The boy’s identity was confirmed through DNA testing, a process necessitated by the condition of the remains. The extensive search, involving volunteers and law enforcement, covered many kilometers of railway tracks, eventually leading to the discovery of personal belongings followed by body parts.

Volunteer Inna Kasyanova emphasized the ongoing nature of the search and the need to address the dangers of train surfing. She likened the movement to the “Blue Whale” game, highlighting the fatal risks involved. Kasyanova expressed concern over the increasing prevalence of train surfing and the devastating consequences for young people.

Authorities have taken steps to combat the issue, including blocking Telegram channels that promote train surfing. The Children’s Ombudsman of the Moscow region has called for train surfing to be recognized as an extremist movement. This call to action follows several disturbing incidents, including severe injuries and a fatality among teenage train surfers.
