A proposal has been made to lower the family mortgage rate to 2% in Russia, aiming to improve housing affordability for families with multiple children. This initiative, spearheaded by Sergei Mironov, the head of the Fair Russia faction, suggests a tiered system based on the number of children in a family.
The proposed system involves maintaining a 6% mortgage rate for families with one child, reducing it to 4% for families with two children, and further decreasing it to 2% for families with three or more children. This adjustment is intended to provide more targeted support to families with greater needs.
Valentina Matvienko, Chairman of the Federation Council, supports the idea of decreasing mortgage rates based on the number of children in a family. She advocates for targeted subsidies and creating favorable conditions for families with children to improve their housing situations where they live. Matvienko emphasized the importance of continually reviewing and updating support measures to ensure their effectiveness.
The specifics of mortgage terms would be determined individually for each family. Additionally, interest-free housing loans or preferential mortgage conditions have been suggested for factory workers, indicating a broader effort to address housing affordability across different demographics. These initiatives reflect an ongoing effort to refine and enhance the family mortgage mechanism in the country.
