Moscow Court Orders Compensation for Train Surfer’s Injury

A Moscow court has ruled in favor of a train surfer, ordering “Central Passenger Suburban Company” (TsPPK) to pay 300,000 rubles in compensation for moral harm resulting from injuries sustained. The ruling, obtained by MSK1.RU, marks a significant development in judicial practice regarding such cases.

The Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that the injured party required urgent hospitalization and inpatient treatment following the incident.

The case involves an 11-year-old boy who chose to ride on top of an electric train. His parents avoided liability, with his mother being abroad at the time and his grandmother lacking official guardianship.

Upon the mother’s return to Russia and the expiration of the statute of limitations for violations of railway conduct rules, she appealed to the prosecutor’s office, seeking compensation from TsPPK for her son’s injuries.

The Zamoskvoretsky Court granted the prosecutor’s office’s claim, absolving the boy’s parents of administrative responsibility.
