An outbreak of acute intestinal infection at the “Zvezdny” college cafeteria in St. Petersburg has resulted in 20 reported cases, including two employees of the “AURUM PLUS” LLC food service provider. Rospotrebnadzor for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region announced the findings on Friday, October 31st.
Eight individuals have been hospitalized in the city’s infectious disease facilities. Testing has confirmed the presence of norovirus in one patient and two “Aurum plus” LLC employees.
Authorities have temporarily suspended the operations of AURUM PLUS LLC at the St. Petersburg GB POU “Zvezdny” College cafeteria. The agency stated that the premises and equipment of AURUM PLUS LLC were sealed on October 30th at 8:00 PM.
Following the mass poisoning incident, students of Zvezdny College have been transitioned to distance learning until November 5th.
