Kostya Tszyu recently visited his native Sverdlovsk region, participating in the E1.RU People’s Prize and engaging with students at a local gymnasium. The boxing legend, who spent 20 years in Australia and now resides in Moscow, shared his thoughts on various topics, from his personal life to the state of boxing.
Tszyu revealed his reasons for settling in Moscow, citing his wife’s preference for the capital. He acknowledged the challenges of Moscow’s traffic but emphasized his commitment to punctuality. Addressing the competition between boxing and MMA, Tszyu asserted boxing’s dominance, viewing MMA as a younger, less established sport. He mentioned the importance of respecting personal rules and ethics, even in combat sports. When asked about the best current boxers, Tszyu named Dmitry Bivol, Artur Beterbiev, and Oleksandr Usyk.
Regarding his sons’ boxing careers, Tszyu clarified that he acts as an advisor rather than a coach, respecting the distance and their individual journeys. He emphasized the importance of supporting children’s choices without imposing directions, highlighting his role in guiding and advising his sons, Nikita and Timofey.
Tszyu also shared his parenting philosophy, emphasizing support over control and highlighting the importance of instilling discipline through mandatory morning exercises.
