The Cinema Fund has announced its decision to fund 39 new film projects, encompassing a diverse range of genres and target audiences. The initiative aims to bolster the Russian film industry and provide audiences with a variety of cinematic experiences.
Fifteen of the selected projects are dedicated to children and family audiences. These include reimagined versions of classic Soviet films like “Kingdom of Crooked Mirrors” and “Morozko,” promising to introduce these beloved stories to a new generation. Also included is the comedy “14 Good Boys” and the fantasy film “Carnival of Cherished Desires,” adapted from Antony Pogorelsky’s novella “The Black Hen.”
Sixteen animated films will also receive financial backing. In addition, funding will be given to eight unique auteur animated films by leading animation directors.
The auteur animated films encompass a wide range of subjects. Among them are “Animated Pages of the Lives of Remarkable People. Green, Mayakovsky, Chekhov,” and “Bulgakovъ. Mystery,” a project based on the diaries and letters of the acclaimed writer. Furthermore, an anime-style adaptation of A. P. Chekhov’s play “The Seagull” is also in development.
The Cinema Fund will also be supporting the creation of “Cheburashka 3”, a sequel to the recent film adaption, a new film adaptation of “Dunno” [Neznaika], and the film “On the Line.” The financial support allocated to these films will be provided on a 100% return basis.
